Alison Gertz was infected with HIV when she was just 16. Soon after her diagnosis, she went public with her story as a way to help others and quickly became recognized around the world as a spokesperson for AIDS awareness and prevention. She devoted the last years of her life to providing information to young adults that they needed to be able to protect themselves from HIV.
After the death of Ali Gertz in 1992, three of her friends cofounded Love Heals to continue her mission, reaching over 40,000 young people every year. Believing every person should have access to HIV/AIDS education programs, the organization focuses on educating underserved communities shown to be vulnerable to HIV transmission.
